Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive healthcare education with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat problems stretching from simple problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the prior experience required to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and prevent countless conditions which the feet regularly experience.
