Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable medical instruction with a concentration on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to treat problems ranging from normal ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which furnish them the practical experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous complications which the feet normally experience.
