Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend about a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired thorough medical training with an importance on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems ranging from common afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the expertise needed to conduct surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
