Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained considerable health care training with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to manage issues ranging from common problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience vital to conduct surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
