Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive healthcare training with a stress on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to address problems stretching from basic disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which give them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
