Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive healthcare training with a concentration on complications involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to treat problems ranging from normal disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the expertise required to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet commonly encounter.
