Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable medical education with a main focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat conditions ranging from basic problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which give them the practical experience vital to carry out surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet normally encounter.
