They put in an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive health care education with a focus on issues involving the ankles and feet. Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against countless troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
