Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired extensive medical education with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to care for difficulties varying from normal disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which give them the skill vital to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet frequently encounter.
