Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care training with a concentration on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage issues varying from conventional ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the experience essential to perform surgery on those concerns that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against countless issues which the feet typically experience.
