Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired considerable medical training with a concentration on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with problems ranging from simple conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to conduct surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet usually encounter.
