Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a stress on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to handle complications ranging from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
