Physicians at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend around ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained thorough medical training with an importance on issues involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to address conditions stretching from basic afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience crucial to perform surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet routinely experience.
