Specialists at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received thorough healthcare instruction with a focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to manage concerns ranging from general disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the practical experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical treatment.
Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
