Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.
At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive health care training with a main focus on complications involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to address difficulties extending from standard problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.
Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet generally experience.
