Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received wide-ranging medical training with an importance on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to deal with difficulties stretching from conventional ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against a large number of issues which the feet typically encounter.
