Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging healthcare instruction with an emphasis on complications involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to handle problems varying from typical ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent a large number of problems which the feet usually encounter.
