Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired substantial health care training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address problems ranging from standard conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which furnish them the prior experience needed to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
