Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough healthcare training with an emphasis on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to care for complications extending from standard disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the expertise required to perform surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet frequently experience.
