Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired extensive medical education with a focus on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address concerns extending from simple problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience crucial to execute surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
