Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle problems ranging from regular problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
