Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received wide-ranging health care training with a concentration on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat problems varying from standard disorders like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which supply them the skill vital to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many complications which the feet generally encounter.
