Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive health care education with an importance on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to address concerns ranging from simple ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which give them the skill required to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet commonly encounter.
