Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable healthcare training with a stress on issues involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to deal with complications ranging from general conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
