Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging health care education with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat conditions extending from usual problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which supply them the experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against countless issues which the feet normally encounter.
