Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained substantial healthcare training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to treat issues extending from typical ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which give them the experience required to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of countless problems which the feet usually encounter.
