Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote around 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received encompassing medical education with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage issues ranging from general disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience required to carry out surgery on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against numerous troubles which the feet usually encounter.
