Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained considerable health care instruction with an emphasis on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are skilled to treat problems extending from simple conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience vital to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet frequently encounter.
