Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging health care training with a concentration on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to handle concerns ranging from conventional ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
