Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to deal with problems ranging from regular disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the skill necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet frequently experience.
