Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging health care training with a concentration on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to deal with complications ranging from normal ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
