Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained considerable healthcare instruction with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to handle complications extending from commonplace conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise crucial to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous complications which the feet typically encounter.
