Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care training with a focus on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat problems ranging from common ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the expertise needed to conduct surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet generally experience.
