Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained comprehensive healthcare training with a focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat complications stretching from general conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the skill required to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet usually encounter.
