Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging medical training with a focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat problems ranging from simple ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet normally experience.
