Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received substantial medical instruction with a main focus on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to deal with problems ranging from normal problems for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which furnish them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally experience.
