Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and actually numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained thorough health care training with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat problems ranging from common conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
