Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact many podiatry programs lie within these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical instruction with an attention to on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to address difficulties stretching from regular ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet normally encounter.
