Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired extensive medical training with an importance on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are instructed to handle difficulties varying from simple problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which give them the experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
