Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired extensive health care training with an emphasis on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. They are instructed to care for conditions varying from familiar afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which provide them the skill needed to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against countless conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
