Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote an average of a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained extensive healthcare training with a stress on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are instructed to deal with problems ranging from commonplace ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which give them the practical experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of countless troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
