Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive health care education with a focus on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat conditions ranging from common conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet typically encounter.
