Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received significant health care training with a focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat difficulties ranging from usual disorders such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which give them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet routinely experience.
