Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable health care training with a main focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat difficulties varying from common afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the skill crucial to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet regularly experience.
