Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough medical education with an attention to on issues involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to care for issues ranging from simple problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which provide them the experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet normally experience.
