Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial healthcare instruction with an attention to on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to address problems varying from general problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet regularly encounter.
