Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained extensive health care instruction with an importance on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are instructed to treat issues extending from regular problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
