Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained comprehensive healthcare instruction with an importance on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat issues ranging from simple ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the experience needed to execute surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet usually experience.
