Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and actually numerous podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired considerable medical instruction with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to care for problems extending from common conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which furnish them the expertise essential to execute surgery on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet normally experience.
