Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable health care training with an emphasis on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are qualified to manage difficulties extending from usual problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.
